Nothing screams “Party” quite like tequila shots. Looking for an alternative to the traditional lime and salt, try an orange with cinnamon. This combination will awaken senses with a sweet finish that will not give you that “sour puss” face that usually comes after taking a shot. To heighten the experience always choose a good quality 100% agave tequila.
Blanco “Silver” Tequila: white spirit; aged less than two months, then bottled.
Reposado Tequila: aged a minimum of two months, but less than a year in oak barrels.
Anejo Tequila: aged a minimum of one year, but less than three years in oak barrels.
Paloma: For a refreshing and thirst quenching tequila cocktail, the Paloma is a must and a favorite in Mexico. This drink is most commonly made with grapefruit flavor soda such as Fresca or Squirt, and a squeeze of lime served on the rocks.
2oz Reposado tequila
1/2oz fresh lime juice
6oz Fresca, Squirt or Jarritos
Instructions: Fill glass with ice. Pour ingredients into as listed, and garnish with a lime wedge.
The Esperanza Green Margarita:
2oz Silver tequila
1oz Pineapple juice
1/2oz Fresh lime juice 1/2oz Agave or simple syrup
4 slices cucumber
7 leaves of cilantro
Instructions: Combine cucumber, cilantro and tequila into a shaker and muddle. Add the rest of ingredients into shaker with ice and shake. Strain the contents of shaker into an ice filled margarita glass, rimmed with salt or chili lime salt and garnish with lime.
